Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable said the team is negotiating a long-term deal with free-agent defensive lineman Richard Seymour. Cable said after the team's first minicamp practice Friday that the two sides are working on the deal, and that's why Seymour wasn't at the practice. The Raiders placed the exclusive franchise tag designation on Seymour in February. That prohibited him from negotiating with other teams and guaranteed him $12.398 million for the 2010 season.

Chris Johnson has been very vocal about wanting to be paid more after making NFL history in 2009. The Titans wrapped up their second on-field session Thursday, and Johnson wasn't there. The two-time Pro Bowl running back is staying away from voluntary team practices as part of his campaign for a very big pay hike since becoming only the sixth player in NFL history to run for at least 2,000 yards. "CJ's had a phenomenal year," Titans fullback Ahmard Hall said Thursday. "He broke some records that no one would expect an eight-, 10-year guy to break. And he broke it in his second year. I mean, he's the best back in the league right now. He wants to get paid as such." Johnson has three years left on the $12 million contract he signed in 2008 that featured $7 million guaranteed. But his base salary for 2010 doesn't even put him close to being one of the best paid players on the Titans, let alone the NFL. Johnson is due $550,000 for 2010. The running back picked No. 24 overall in 2008 started talking of wanting more money as he wrapped up his second season as The Associated Press' 2009 Offensive Press Offensive Player of the Year. "That's something my agent has got to take care of, my agent and upstairs," Johnson said in January, the day after the season ended. "I'm not sure. I need to get Bud Adams' number." Coach Jeff Fisher said Johnson is under contract and refused to get into talk about negotiations. "He eventually will come back," Fisher said. "We are concerned about those that are here right now. He knows what it takes to get into shape and to do those things, but it is hard to get it done elsewhere because the group that is working now is in terrific shape." Similar to the role Larry Johnson played during the second half of 2009, the Bengals are searching for a veteran running back. Brian Leonard and Bernard Scott are perfect spot players, but the Bengals need a backup for Cedric Benson, which would seem to suggest they?ll go with four running backs and one fullback.

Adam "Pacman" Jones is still looking for a way back into the NFL and believes that the Lions would be a "great fit" for him. The cornerback told the Tennessean on Wednesday he would be willing to accept a minimum salary, incentive-laden deal. "I would just love to play football, period," Jones said in a telephone interview. "But I think Detroit would be a great fit."

Darren Sharper left his visit with the Jaguars on Thursday without a contract, but talks between the two sides are ongoing. According to a league source, Sharper spent Wednesday night in Jacksonville. Miami, New Orleans and Washington are also believed to have interest in the safety.

The Dolphins are open to adding linebacker Adalius Thomas if he comes at the right price. Thomas, 32, can still be productive, but his value has diminished after two disappointing seasons in New England.

The Bears have contacted representatives for free agent wide receiver Mike Furrey, according to a league source. Furrey is familiar with new Chicago offensive coordinator Mike Martz's system from their time together in Detroit and St. Louis.

NFLPA president Kevin Mawae doesn't understand why he still hasn't landed with a team. "I am unemployed and hoping someone will call," Mawae told "3 Hour Lunch" on 104.5 in Nashville. "It's kind of befuddling to me that I just came off my eighth Pro Bowl and a 16-game season and I can't get one phone call. "Alan Faneca gets cut two days ago and yesterday he signs a contract with another team. And not to take anything away from him, we have the same agent, we're friends. But something tells me that there is something going on beside me just being 39 years old. "I've said in the past that I hope our management and the owners can look past the fact that I am president of the PA. But right now it's not looking that way. I'm looking for a job. I've made no secrets about wanting to be back here in Tennessee and I've yet to receive a call from anybody."

Pro Bowl safety Darren Sharper is scheduled to visit the Jaguars on Wednesday, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Jacksonville needs a safety and they didn't draft one last weekend. Sharper is searching for another opportunity two months into the free-agent signing period. Dallas could also be interested in Sharper, who played in New Orleans last season.

It is "doubtful right now" that the Jets will pursue Adalius Thomas, according to a source. Thomas was released by the Patriots on Monday. The recent addition of Jason Taylor, who plays a similar role to Thomas, is likely the reason the Jets aren't interested.
